Harlem Maritime Museum and Center (HMCM) locates at the North River Wastewater Treatment plant deck, Northwest of the Hudson river. The building devotes to the history of the Hispanic and African American immigrants and their contribution to the development of US Naval.
The building consists two auditorium which linked by the elevated hallway that has grandiose view toward Manhattan. The main lobby opens up to the Hudson river. The exhibition space on first floor and second floor embraces the central skylight which functions as temporary exhibition and performing platform.
The roof form emulates the sinuous movement of sea wave while the main facade is the direct inspiration to the layout pattern of African immigrants who was transfer through the slavery ships to the US, the haunting image from a distance past.
